Blaze Rods are the best fuel once you have a farm. You can sit waiting for blazes to spawn (xp) to get fuel to put in furnaces for xp. The fuel that keeps on giving.

Are you playing in the most recent snapshot? If you're playing in 1.2.5, then this feature hasn't been added yet.
