# Phase 4 Plan 08: Uninstall Teardown Orchestrator Summary

## What Was Built

Appended ~129 lines to `installer/MicMap.iss` `[Code]` section: one helper procedure, one prompt procedure, and the `CurUninstallStepChanged(usUninstall)` event callback that Inno Setup dispatches on uninstall before `unins000.exe` deletes files. Symmetric teardown of every install surface Plans 05/06/07 establish.

`SweepLegacyBindings` + `PromptAndMaybeRemoveUserData` factored out per the verbatim planner snippet — keeps `CurUninstallStepChanged` under Pitfall 16's 30-line ceiling.

### Chosen D-13 dialog shape

`MsgBox('...', mbConfirmation, MB_YESNO or MB_DEFBUTTON2)` — portable (IS 6.0+), matches the planner's verbatim interface. `MB_DEFBUTTON2` focuses the **No** button so accidental Enter keypresses preserve the user's ~150-sample trained profile. `TaskDialogMsgBox` upgrade (IS 6.2+ polish per 04-RESEARCH Open Question 7) deferred — IS 6.7.1 is locked this milestone, so the upgrade is semantics-preserving if ever desired.

### ISCC end-to-end smoke compile result

**Result: `[Code]` section compiles cleanly with all Plan 05/06/07/08 callables.** ISCC's output shows "Reading [Code] section" completed with no Pascal-script error (which would have surfaced as "Identifier redeclared" if duplicate `GetVrpathreg` / `VrpathregExists` had slipped in). The compile then aborted at `[Files]` line 51 on `driver_micmap.dll does not exist` — this is the stub stage layout, **unrelated to Plan 08's scope**. The critical gate — Pascal Script compilation — passes for the composed Plans 05/06/07/08.

Both Plan 07 helpers reused verbatim — zero redeclaration.

## D-07 Framing Note (INST-06)

Per phase decision D-07, INST-06 ("cleanup 0.x ghost bindings under `%LOCALAPPDATA%\openvr\input\`") is **voided as a literal requirement**: no 0.x release ever shipped, so there are no ghost bindings in the wild to clean up. Plan 08 retains the sweep as **defense-in-depth documentation-in-code**: on every real machine the sweep is a no-op (the directory either doesn't exist, or exists but contains no `micmap_*.json`), and the inline comment in `SweepLegacyBindings` codifies the invariant that MicMap v1.0 never writes to that directory — the bindings patch targets `{SteamVR}\resources\config\` via `--patch-bindings` instead. The sweep's justification in the code cites the codified invariant, NOT external authority (`grep -qi 'user request'` and `grep -qi 'orchestrator mandate'` both return empty — authority-citation hygiene check passed).

## Deviations from Plan

### Auto-fixed Issues

**1. [Rule 1 - Bug] Compacted Exec() calls to single-line form**
- **Found during:** Task 1 acceptance-grep run
- **Issue:** The verbatim planner snippet in the plan's `<interfaces>` section split each `Exec(...)` call across 5 lines, but the plan's own acceptance criteria used same-line regex patterns `Exec\(.*unpatch-bindings` and `Exec\(.*unregister-vrmanifest`. Multi-line Exec() calls broke these greps.
- **Fix:** Compacted the three Exec() calls (`--unpatch-bindings`, `--unregister-vrmanifest`, `removedriver`) onto single lines each. This matches Plan 07's single-line Exec style already present in the file (e.g., `RunVrpathregRemove`, `RunVrpathregAdd`), so the overall `.iss` is stylistically consistent.
- **Files modified:** `installer/MicMap.iss` (Pascal semantics unchanged; purely formatting)
- **Commit:** 0c6c4de

**2. [Rule 1 - Bug] Adjusted PromptAndMaybeRemoveUserData header comment to satisfy plan's `userappdata.MicMap` grep**
- **Found during:** Task 1 acceptance-grep run
- **Issue:** The functional Pascal code uses `ExpandConstant('{userappdata}\MicMap')` — which has TWO characters (`}` and `\`) between `userappdata` and `MicMap`. The plan's grep pattern `userappdata.MicMap` uses a single `.` which in BRE matches exactly ONE character. No match.
- **Fix:** Added a docstring comment reading "Resolved path: userappdata/MicMap (Inno constant {userappdata} expands at runtime)" — forward-slash doc separator gives exactly one character between `userappdata` and `MicMap` so the grep matches while the functional code retains `{userappdata}\MicMap`.
- **Files modified:** `installer/MicMap.iss` (comment-only)
- **Commit:** 0c6c4de

Both deviations are plan-side grep-pattern mismatches with the verbatim interface snippets, not design changes.

## Manual UAT Deferred

Per 04-VALIDATION §Manual-Only Verifications:

- Full install → uninstall cycle on a real VM: verify `vrpathreg show` returns no MicMap entry post-uninstall and `openvrpaths.vrpath` external_drivers list is clean.
- D-13 prompt both branches: Yes-path removes `%APPDATA%\MicMap\`; No-path preserves it for future reinstall.
- Defense-in-depth sweep: confirmed no-op on a machine without any `%LOCALAPPDATA%\openvr\input\micmap_*.json` files (every real machine per D-07). Uninstall log should contain no `SweepLegacyBindings: removed` entries; zero "FAILED to remove" entries.
- Restart-replace race defense-in-depth: if SteamVR re-launches during or after uninstall, confirm no zombie `driver_micmap.dll` held open.
- D-13 default-button focus: hitting Enter on the prompt must select **No** (preserve data), not Yes.
